Unfortunately, due to the construction on Creditview, the 40 km loop is shortened by about 10 kms.

Here are the route maps on Garmin Connect in case you want to upload maps to your Edge GPS bike computer:

The weather is looking great for the event...sunny and 25 degrees celcius! The crew inspected the course last week and the roads are in great shape with exception of some construction on Creditview Road on the 40 km loop that will be routed around.

Participants should expect to arrive with enough time to check-in and pick-up their rider kit and draw prize ticket. Some great prizes have been donated by our friends at Ryeka Sport and VellendTech.

Mechanical support is being supplied by the great new shop, Pedalinx.

We are well on the way to surpass last years donations to Trails Youth Initiatives so you reaching out to friends, family, colleagues for sponsorship is really appreciated. Due to the cancellation of our sister event, the Tour de Creemore, the money raised from the Cycle Caledon Challenge will be stretched even further by the Trails organization. Many thanks for your support over the last three years to run this grassroots event.

A reminder that registration for the 2013 edition of the Cycle Caledon Challenge closes Thursday, July 25 at midnight! There is no day-of registration.

Volunteers were out on Sunday setting the course and sweeping debris caused by the recent storms. The roads are in great shape and ready for a fun day of riding this Saturday. Note, there is road construction northbound at Mississauga Road & Bovaird Drive. Follow the detour left on Bovaird Drive to Heritage Road. This will add about 5 - 10 minutes to your drive.

Draw Prizes are being donated by Ryeka Sport and Vellend Tech...can anyone say Sidi Shoes and Hincapie!

Your light lunch is being donated by Mamma Martino's and Happy Birthday Cakes!

The route for this years ride follows the same format as last year with three different loops that are combined to make up your target distance that will challenge you!

40 kms - Loop1

60 kms - Loop 2 or 3

100 kms - Loop 1 + 2

160 kms - Loop 1 + 2 + 3

Here is the root plotted out on

Loop 1 (40kms):

Loop 2 (60 kms):

Loop 3 (60 kms):

Although optional, many of you have collected sponsorships or made additional donations to the charity, Trails Youth Initiatives. To date we have raised $2,435. Thank you for making a difference!

Final preparations are now underway. To date we have raised $4,850 for Trails. Thank you!

Some of you have requested a downloadable version of the route map:

I don't have a fancy bike computer so someone let me know if these don't work (e-mail:

Unfortunately, all participants must complete the OCA/CCA Waiver regardless of pre-registration as a condition of the event insurance. If you want to save time in the line-up download the OCA/CCA Waiver form here to complete in advance and hand it in when you sign-in to pick-up your rider kit.

The SUL club members are all geared up to ride the route with you but it's advisable to be prepared with a spare tube and a pump or Co2 cartridge. They will be more than happy to help fix a flat tire.

I'm now ready to reveal the route for the Cycle Caledon Challenge. Click here to launch the route map as a PDF.

I rode the last 60 km loop of the tour route this morning with a few of the lead volunteers who are giving up their riding for the day to help out with the event. For those doing the 160 km challenge, this last section will see the mileage gained quickly. The loop starts out a little bit rolling on Winston Churchill heading south then it descends into Terra Cotta. It's a quick climb out of the valley and you're treated to a long flat section of road. On the last 10 kilometres after the water stop in Inglewood you begin the climb back to the Caledon Ski Club and are treated to the coolness of the Forks of the Credit running along side you.

There's only 6 days and counting to pre-register and save!

July 18, 2012 @ 10:00 am

Only 10 days to the event date and all the pieces are falling into place. Please, please, please register online rather than arrive with cash. I really don't want my volunteers to have to secure a lot of cash. Collection of sponsorships for Trails is appreciated but completely optional as a portion of your registration is being donated.

I rode part of the 100 km route last Saturday and noted a few areas to sweep before the event. Otherwise, the route is fantastic. I'm waiting on one last approval from the Caledon OPP this week before I publish the final route online. I snapped the photo on the home page on route at the corner of Heart Lake Rd. and Charleston Side Road. Shortly after I managed to take this photo going down a long descent:

Thank you to everyone who has registered to date for the Cycle Caledon Challenge. If your sitting on the fence, please send me an e-mail with your questions at

We are working on corporate donations to be able to offer participants a light meal included with registration. I'm sure this will be appreciated by all and especially those century distance riders. Thanks to Bruno Martino for his genorisity and Jane for arranging it all.

Each participant will get a registration kit including a re-usable bag and other swag donated by Scotiabank and Scotia iTRADE. Thanks to my colleagues Carolyn, Jennifer and Justin for arranging this. Race Day Custom, Hincapie Sportswear, and Vellendtech will also be including some cycling related goodies in the kit. These quantities are more limited and will be given to those who are pre-registered first. Many thanks to Erik, Pierre, and Andrew.
